Have a Store Manager question? 3 ways to get help now

Store Manager in Office Live Small Business provides an exciting opportunity to sell products to a vast audience online. But like anything new, opening a virtual store can come with some questions. I have good news: There are several ways to get assistance, and fast.

1. Help. Perhaps you’ve read a few Help topics about Store Manager, and didn’t get the specific information you were looking for. One option would be to curse at your PC, of course (I’ve tried that myself). But you can also leave feedback at the end of the topic:

Everyone knows that customer feedback goes straight to the (digital) trash, right? Well, actually, content ratings and feedback come to me—the user assistance writer for Store Manager. I’m the person who wrote all of the Store Manager Help topics, in consultation with Microsoft’s Store Manager team. We used internal expertise and user studies to create the best Help content we could for the launch of the product. But now that you are setting up shop, we’re sure you have questions, concerns, and feedback that we didn’t anticipate. That’s why we plan to continually improve Store Manager Help topics and Resource Center articles (and we’ll offer how-to videos in the near future). However, we need your input to do this right.

2. Community forums. Another great option for getting help now is participating in Office Live Discussions. In the discussion forums, you can ask questions and get timely support from fellow merchants and members of the Store Manager team. It’s a great way to get direct access to Store Manager expertise at any time.

3. Office Live Small Business blog. This is my first post in a series that will specifically address Store Manager support. In future posts, I will point out new and updated Store Manager resources, and discuss other issues of interest to Store Manager merchants, such as tips and best practices for providing a great online shopping experience for your customers.

I’ll end this post with a specific “call to action,” as we love to say here at Microsoft. Comment on this post with your answers to the following questions:

· What has been your most challenging task in setting up your store?

· If you read a specific Help topic or article and it didn’t do the trick, what information was missing or misleading?

Your answers will help me to understand where Help isn’t working for you, and what improvements to prioritize. I look forward to your input!

I think what's missing in the help topics is a virtual tour of the Store Manager. I think this help in filling in the gap.

I posted this on the forum and Filberto gave me this link to advise you of my question.

If Store manager has no way to manage inventory, what can I use to do so? I want to get away from selling on ebay, because the fees are killing me. I sell custom models of farm machinery and semi trucks and may only have one or two of each item. I don't want 12 people coming onto my site and buying 12 of the same thing before I could go on and delete the item after it has sold. If anybody has any ideas I would appreciate them.

Also, does anybody have any idea when this feature may be available with Store Manager?

    Thanks,

    Mac

Hi Mac, not to send you on a wild goose chase, but Mike (a Store Manager team member) answered your question back on the forum. Take a look at his response. Basically, we know inventory management is an important feature, and we look to include it in a future product release.

Advisor_Norris, this is a great idea. We are currently working on how-to videos for various aspects of Store Manager. Sounds like it would make sense to include an overall brief tour. I assume the focus you'd want here would be on how-to, on a very high level?

Does Store Manager support using or own cc processor? Or is Pay Pal our only option? Could find no clear reference.

    Thank you

    @ Chris

Store Manager does not currently support bring your own processor. However we do support PayPal's credit card processing services. So if you already have a PayPal account you can setup Store Manager to use this same account.

We (as partners and developers) really need a SandBox to demo and test Store Manager features in without having to purchase it ourselves!

Are you referring to Microsoft Office Live Small Business Store Manager?  It was released in February; about 3 months ago.

I need to sign up for Store Manager. The instructions tell me to sign in to my Office Live Small Business account and then, in the left navigation bar, click Sell Online.

THERE IS NO 'SELL ONLINE' IN THE NAVIGATION BAR!!!!!

PLEASE - someone email me and tell me where I am going wrong. I have spent 2 hours going in and out of various screens in the hope of stumbling across the right one. No joy!! I now have a headache - and still no 'Store Manager'  :)
