Want help from a pro? Check out our new partner listings

We built Microsoft Office Live Small Business to be a do-it-yourself Web site solution.  And from some of the terrific sites I’ve seen our subscribers create, I think it’s working out nicely for many of you. But we also understand that some who sign up for our service may get, well, stuck.  You discover you don’t really have the time or necessary oomph to get your site up and running. That’s why I’d like to share that the Office Live Small Business Partner Directory is now live in the United States and in the United Kingdom.   What’s the Partner Directory? It’s the place to find professional help for building a great Office Live Small Business site—designers, custom developers, marketing specialists, training specialists, and other pros to help you run your business better. What’s important to know is that even if you hire one of the partners, you still get to take advantage of all the freebies—Web hosting, e-mail accounts, domain name, workspaces, Contact Manager –that come with Office Live Small Business.  We have a broad selection of partners in the directory and more are joining every day. These Web whizzes offer a variety of services—from site design and Office Live Small Business training to online marketing and custom business applications.  The best way to see who’s in the Partner Directory is to pay a visit. But here’s basically how it works:

  1. Select the type of expert you want to find
  2. If you only want to find local partners who can sit down across the table from you, enter your zip code.  Otherwise, leave it blank to find even more partners who can work with you online and on the phone.
  3. Select the industry such as health care, education, etc. (optional)
We then search our directory and show you the names of partners that meet your requirements.  So, if you’ve signed up for Office Live Small Business yet can’t seem to move forward with your site or other online ventures, check out the U.S. Partner Directory or U.K. Partner Directory. And tell us about any partners you work with that you really like.

I think I have entered the 'Twilight Zone'.  I don't even know what I'm doing here.  I don't want to insult anyone's intelligence by hanging around; but I have a terrible dilemma (for me) that I need help with.  I don't even know how I got this far, but I'm taking a chance that I might be able to get some viable help before I have another MI.

I really don't have a business.  I am a quadreplegic basicaly that has written a book. I 'wrote' it, literally and it is very important to me.  It is my autobiography and I needed to get it type hopefully into a format to be published. I recently got a laptop computer but I'm really not proficient on it, or any computer. One of my therapists who no longer comes to help me, opened up an "Microsoft Office 2007 trial" and told me to just type it in there. I started typing a "document" with my book title.  It seemed simple enough although painful physically currently. I've added details very emotionally painful which I could never redo and the only place it is is in that "Document".  Since I don't know my way around the computer, I have been literally terrified of "losing the transcript (Document) by having it suddenly 'wipe out'.  Ok, that's #1.  I really can't afford the program since I don't have much income but I don't know how to get the transcript off there without losing it. That's 2.  Then, I was trying to e mail some photos sent in an e mail which somehow one of my sons (who is also a computer illiterate) moved into 'icons' on my 'cover', when an "error message came up citing an e mail address that was a mistake a few weeks ago and refusing to let me e mail the pics at all.  It's not the person I was e mailing to.  NOW, I can't send anything or write anything without this "ERROR (same one) coming up and blocking me.  It all seems to be connected somehow to "Office Live" which is why I have just spent another entire day trying to find some way to correct this which is how I came to this particular juncture.  Out of breath yet?  Well, I am, and I;m really sorry to intrude, but can anyone help me, PLEASE?  I don't understand all the computer jargon and I'm really at my wit's end and it just seems to be one big mess.  Best Buy says they'll look at the problem if the computer is left there for days and I pay big bucks.  I don't even have 'little' bucks.  Can someone please help me and I'll get out of the way. Please.   Donna in Apple Valley, Calif.

Donna a friend of my husband and myself, is also a quad.  We have found a few ways to assit him in many ways. He is currently very depressed and could benefit from your book. Great idea.

Have you considered just dictating your book. Alot of us do not do much reading from books anymore.  We listen on the web or in our cars. SO a cd might be a solution to us both.

There are software pckgs out there that will type the document for you as you dictate.

And also there are programs in your community that can help you financialy with this or provide you with the equipment you need.  One of those is the ability to continue working how ever that may be.

One of the web sites my company is designing right now is for one of these providers.  However they only assist in our little valley.

They are affiliated with United Way, so if you call them in your area they do know of places like this.

Hope this was some kind of assistance to you.

    Hi Donna

Do you still need assistance with your biography?

If you can get a copy of your written work to me, I will convert it to a electronic file format for you to forward to a publisher.

Sounds easy? Maybe not - photo copy and post or scan and email or who knows.

    Let's get it transcribed!

Cost? nothing or maybe a 'signed' copy when it is published?

    Let me know, O.K?

    Richard.
