Welcome to the Beginners Forum! Read this post 1st

The creation of this forum was suggested by your peers; they indicated it may take a while for people to be willing to post a question or a comment and having a place expressly for that purpose could help facilitate it. So here it is!

This is the link to a blog that will house those: “I wish I had known that” items; if you have a suggestion for more items to add or edits to existing items please post them as response to this thread. http://myofficelivecommunity.com/discuss/blogs/beginnerstips/default.aspx

Thanks again for participating in this community site, which is your community site

Re: Welcome to the Beginners Forum!

Hi Filberto!

I am going to take up your offer for Beginner's Support.  I have successfully created my new web-site...even purchased and registered my own domain name, and successfully linked it to the website I created in OLSB...BUT...

I am not able to download and install the "Image Uploader"...(hence I cannot upload images of my artwork to my new website).  All I get is an audio "bleeep" and the download window disappears and takes me back to the Image Gallery window.  And Active X does not display.

I am truly puzzled.  I can up load documents, but not images...I am using Win XP Pro and yes, I have administrator privilages to install programs.

I tried to locate an "Image Uploader" via the Microsoft site, but alas, no luck.

Is anybody else having this problem?  Or is it just me?

 Thanks for your help!  Margaret

Margaret, your activeX settings may be too restrictive.  Try this:  Tools > Internet Options > Security tab;  move the slider to "Medium."  This sets all activeX to either "Allow" or "Notify" except for unsigned activeX.  Also, be sure your pop-up blocker is set to "Allow Pop-ups on this site."

I have updated the post at the top with the link to the blog; let me know suggestions of items to add.

I don't have a good suggestion for the calendar question though; someone else?

Re: Welcome to the Beginners Forum!

Hi RxDave!

Thanks for the tip, which I tried but didn't have any impact.  I did permit pop-ups on the site as well.

Interestingly enough, when I attempt to download the image uploader (imageuploader.msi) from the public4 site, I receive a message that the site doesn't exist.  Using Interet Searches for the file only provide the McAffee Site Risk Summary.

I am beginning to think this is a Microsoft Office Live issue..

Anybody else having this trouble?

Margaret

Re: Welcome to the Beginners Forum!

Hello Margaret.  It is actually useful information to know what does not work as well as what does.  At least we have eliminated some possible causes.  When you mentioned McAfee it rang a bell.  Somewhere in the old forums was a discussion about McAfee settings to allow the old image uploader.  Perhaps someone will chime in here with that info.

PS:  I didn't mean to say poop-up blocker.  That's been fixed now, although one of those might be useful once in a while as well.

I have realized we may have mislead beginners as they are creating new questions under this thread; so I am going to mark it as not allowing replies. But please do create new threads under the Beginners Forum for your questions.

I use a google caledar. Once you create it you copy and paste the HTML code into the edit page of your website. By interactive do you mean the visitors get to do things as well? Its a very good calendar.

Re: Welcome to the Beginners Forum!

I need help with Image Uploader as well. Please and Thanks. PhoneCounsel

P.S. And Contact Manager, too. I want more than one list. The man on the phone (support) did not know you could make a new one. I don't find the instructions clear and do a lot by hand so far.  PC

our signt lakewoodresortsmd.com no longer has an administrator.  I need to edit my site , how can we assign some one administrator privileges.

How do you add lines to an existing table that was created in our website.

The owner of the site can edit the site, you'll need to sign in with the owner ID and password.  You can then add a separate admistrator if you like.  That would be under account settings > users and permissions.

You can add rows and columns to an existing table by right clicking in the table and choosing Add Row in the menu.
