how do i register my site with google so when i do a google search it will pick it up

hi all i have a problem, i have tried to register my site on google i tried the both ways one by putting some html into my site the other uploading a file to my documents but it still didnt work the site i went on was http://www.google.com/addurl/  and have also tried this method http://officelive.basics.tips.googlepages.com/addingagooglesearchengine but i dont think it explains to me clearly enough what there is to be done any help much appreciated thank you

You don't need to add any HTML to your site to get registered with Google.  Use the "addurl" link and just fill in the blanks.  Then, it can take up to 3 months or so before you will see results.  Use the time to make your site perfect.  Once they have indexed you, changes can show up in as little as a week.

You can also do absolutely nothing, and eventually your site will get indexed.  Submitting will speed it up a bit.  Good luck.

i think i also went thru the same process as hacka1010.  after submitting url google asks to "verify" the site so they can confirm that you are really the owner of the domain you are trying to register.  google asks to add an html code to your site and then link it back to google.  i tried it but gets message like "not verified" or something.  but yeah, thanks rxdave for sharing this info.  i will also try to figure it out and let you know if it was successful.

I have tried to verified my website with google, same yahoo and live, so its impossible that i can do it, the page give me error, let me know... somebody can help.. so i did the procedure with metatabs but whe i tested, dont showed indexed, thanks

You can find a solution for Google Webmaster tools here: http://solutionsforofficelive.com/googlewebmastertools.aspx, this does not help you in getting listed or ranking, it just gives you some helpful information.
