Work with your own Web design tools

Microsoft Office Live provides all the Web tools you need to design your Web site. However, if you already have a Web site or want to design one using your own Web design program, you can. Just activate your own design program, and begin working on your site.

Is there a way to use an FTP program?

 I don't mind the networking folder, but sometimes I have a lot to up load and if my computer connection resets the I have to start all over again.

I'm using powerpoint 2007 to design. I need to know if there is a data collection form within powerpoint. If not, how to i go about finding one and using it to connect with contact manager?

The main reason for me to use office live is the way their WYSIWYG editor makes the webpages dynamic so that the modify date is automaticly updated to current date everytime the search engine spiders crawl the website. Also the way you can custom design they way you will be listed on the search engines. I have seen office live website that the people used their own html editors and then uploaded the pages and those pages are static with the modify date staying the same. If I am going to use my own editor (dreamweaver) it would be on a website (jlink.net) that supports php, mysql, FTP, databases for $4.95 a month (Server: Apache/1.3.36 (Unix) mod_auth_passthrough/1.8 mod_log_bytes/1.2 mod_bwlimited/1.4 PHP/4.4.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635.SR1.2 mod_ssl/2.8.27 OpenSSL/0.9.7a) I have found the best option is to just use the tools microsoft office provides.

I use M/S FrontPage 2003 - I had my website installed at another host. I transfered it to M/S Office Live Small Business. I am having problems getting into my files - I keep getting a message telling me the files are not available. Is anyone else having this problem? If you are how do I fix it? Am I doing something wrong?

Hello Aleina:

I do not think the error is your fault because as you said you have your site on another host and it worked. I would though double check the paths on webpage to see if they are correctly linked to where the support files are currently at. what are the file types that are not available this might be a clue to problem.

Probably a bit late with this, but I just had similar problem and found out that Microsoft does not like to play with it's old toys anymore.

Important If code HTML is deteriorated, the page can be damaged and you can encounter problems of loading, for example. To check that code HTML is correct, reach your Web site via Internet and check that all s' post as envisaged. In addition, take care not to use another tool d' edition Web, like Microsoft Frontpage, because the pages created with these tools cannot be downloaded in Office Live Small Business.
