Start a Blog on My Website?

How do I start a blog for my Office Live Small Business Website? Is this possible?

Re: Start a Blog on My Website?

It is possible if you are willing to accept the following limitations:

  1. No commenting capability for readers
  2. No pagination for the blog, i.e. you blog will exist as one page no matter how many blog entries you have
  3. No categorization or tagging
  4. No archiving by date
  5. No native searching capability

If you are ok with the above limitations, then it is possible.  Otherwise, an alternative would be to use Windows Live Spaces (there is a module in Office Live which allows you to display posts from there but again, it is quite limiting as well).  Another alternative would be to use a third-party blogging host such as blogger, vox, wordpress, etc. instead.

Hope this helps!

these limitations fall under the blog standard feature list. once i commit outside  - i'm not liable to switch back. when are fully functioning blogs coming to office live?

Probably not for a while yet, if ever, they currently use the Windows Live Spaces and intergrate using the Blog Module.

I use the link to feed blog entires from my live space but you loose the ability to reply on the Live Office Site.  You can read replies but not post.  If anyone knows a way around it I would dearly love to know.  If they are going to use the two programs together I don't understand why they aren't better integrated.

I am in the same boat.  I started a blog under Live Space and added it to my website but like it's been said by others on here I am unable to get comments posted.  I'd love also to know how to get around this.  Thank you for any ideas or info.

I'm also having trouble with the margins match on Live Office once I post from Live Spaces.  I have the two side by side format set up in the Office side and blog into the left side from Spaces.  Depending on the monitor you can't read the whole line of type.  Also I've found that once you publish, you can no longer edit the post at all.  Boy this is primitive stuff compared with other programs.  As administrator I would expect to always be able to edit posts.  What if someone posted something inappropriate?  Now what the heck do I do?  Finally the formatting seems to change at random.  I put a caption under a video post last night and now it's above the player and although it's still centered in the edit window in the actual view it's off center too.    Not sure how MS can be the biggest in the world and put this kind of product on the market.  The problem is that now I've started with this and have to try to use it.  Jeez.

To add a comment to the blog from your office live website you click on "Read Comments" to edit the blog after you publish it you go to your spaces and make sure you are logged in and just click on the title of the blog entry, then select edit this will give you the option to edit your orginal post or delete any of the comments (by clicking on the red x located at the left side of the comments) finally to get everything to line up properly when I added the blog module I first made sure the curcer was in the justify left position. I have blogs on both websites.

That's just way too much hassle.  OfficeLive's lack of true blogging capability is a severe shortcoming and I have to believe it is hampering adoption.  Can't believe they are so shortsighted at OfficeLive, although its more likely the case that Microsoft's internal politics led to this "bundled product" fiasco at the expense of its small business customers.  I would wager that the Office Live Business version will not be hampered by this idiocy.  Will not get out the gate if it is.

Really Jim there isn't really a reason to waste your time over something you can rent (apache server space) for $4.95 a month.

I really don't want to be smart but if you can't design a successful system on office live small business you will not be sucessful on other systems.

Hi, Royster!

Is there any of those blog hosts that you get paid?
