SOE headache

Hi to all.

My site www.focusedfinancialplanning.co.uk has disappeared from Google all of a sudden. I had top rankings for searches on "investment adviser Bedford", "investment adviser Harpenden" as well as for Focused Financial Planning but since the weekend, I appear nowhere. A search for Focused Financial Planning doesn't show my current site (it does show the dot com site for the American owner). My old site does appear now through www.focusedfinancial.ifa-web.co.uk but I don't want to use this site and moved to MOL to create my new site instead. Does the continued existence of my old site have an effect on my Google placing and if so will a 301 redirect help and is there somewhere I can find an idiots guide to performing a 301 direct please?

Also I put a article on Digg a few weeks ago and out of genuine naivety linked it to my site and subsequently received an email from Office Live saying "don't spam digg". Will this have upset the Google gods?

Finally, my Focused Financial Planning site has never appeared on Live Search searches but has on Alta Vista and Yahoo (as well as Google until recently). It shows up when doing site:www...... on Live Search but not in an actual search.

Any help will be appreciated.

Hello focused2:

A good start is to optimize your website by using the free Web Page Analyzer I am also detecting 3 html modules right at the very top of your home page even though I do not see anything there when viewing your page:

Thanks Scybyte

I can't remember what I was trying to do with the HTML modules. How do I go about removing them please?

Regards

Just select them and press delete, they should be a blue dotted border.

Hello Ian:

]They might allready have been deleted I just seen that "Please enable java script to view page properly"  at the top of your page and I had to ask what it was. If anything is still there you would see it when you edit your page (it might look like a empty box) in that case you just right click on it and select delete. As far as search position and ranking I have notices that this happens durning the year at different times when for no aparent reason your website disappears from the search engine listings the main thing is not to over react and start making drastic changes, optimize your website, and resubmit it to the search engines.

Skybyte

Thanks again. I've just finished working with the Web Page Analyser and didn't see the empty box  so hopefully all will be well. I will now submit the site again and cross fingers.

Ian @ Focused.

Hello Ian:

I ment that when using the page manager in office live that you would see it located at the top of your page like StudioAllen said.

Re: SOE headache

Thanks again Scybyte and StudioAllen. Eventually the penny dropped and I have now removed the modules. I submitted to all the search engines again when I had amended my tags to satisfy the Web Page Analyser but should I do it again now I have removed the html modules?

Strangely when I check Google to see if the site is being indexed by them, it says the last time the site was accessed was 27 November 2007. Is that relevant at all? That would have been when the URL was being redirected to my old web service provider. On setting up with MOL, I had the URL redelegated and Google has since then shown me very high up in the rankings until a few days ago so they obviously have accessed the site since November.

 Kind regards

Ian @ Focused

Hello focused:

You are fine Ian one more thing you can do to help the position and ranking for your website is that when you post a question or answer here in the office live community you end your post a text based url link to your website (name and url) Example: New Mountain Tavern   Silver Moon Furniture
