secure web site area

 I am a absloute beginer, I would like to create a ares on my site that is accessable by log in. is this possible and how can i do it.

 

help would be appreciated

You are able to create a area on your website that requires a "log in" by using a password gateway that you can get for free from bravenet you can find more information about this at StudioAllen's Tips & Solutions website:

Hi again, thanks for the info. I have followed the instructions you gave me re- creating a password protected area on my site. I have uploaded the login in code and linked it to my web page and the password works. The only problem is when the log in page pops up it has the codes visable.

 any advice

Since you didn't provide a URL to the problem I can only guess, by code you mean the code of login page (bravenet code)?  Did you use MS Word?  You need to use Notepad, MS Word just displays the code.

You can have a loggout button, but no I don't think there is a way to display a user id or at least not dynamically.

I just have a free message board, Powered by SMF 1.1.4 | SMF © 2006-2007, Simple Machines LLC hosted on a server that supports php and just embed it into webpage on office live, here are 2 examples: http://newmtntavern.com/bettermember.aspx and http://silvermoonfurniture.com/forum.aspx
