Editing Fields (Columns) in Contact Manager

I am a new user.  I am looking to see if there is any way to change the names/types of fields in the Contact Manager.  It is hard for me to use it for my business otherwise as I require special fields.  I have searched this site and cannot find any new information.  I can see that I can modify the fields in the view section.  However, this is only a pick list of 66 pre-set fields.  Any suggestions?

I will relocate this question to another forum where I hope will get better attention; I did a quick search and could not find anything that would indicate customizing Contact Manager by adding custom Fields/changing existing ones was possible (may be possible with some development; not sure if you want to go there)

Re: Editing Fields (Columns) in Contact Manager

I, too, am a brand new user, and truly need to be able to edit field names. In looking around today, I found some place/page where it looked like I could do just that, and sure enough, I have lost the link and cannot refind. Who knows the answer to this? Please.
