Help! Why am I not getting any boxes to enter my credit card information when registering a domain name?

Hi

Just signed up to OLSB this afternoon and haven't managed to get very far yet!!  I'm stuck trying to get a domain name as I can't confirm because it tells me the credit card number is invalid but there is no box available to enter any credit card information!!!

The steps I've taken so far (several times):

  1. I've chosen my domain name (which IS available) and confimed.
  2. Then I entered my contact information and confirmed.
  3. The next section says "Enter your credit card information" but the box within this section that says "Payment Information" has nothing in it - I assumed this was because there was no fee to pay for the domain name.  So I entered the Billing Address information and click 'save and continue'.
  4. The credit card section just has the text "Credit card: xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-null" but the 'Complete signing up' section is available so I click 'I accept, complete my order' and after a short wait I'm taken back into the 'Enter your credit card information' and there's an error message (pointing to the Town/City box!) for the Billing address saying: "This credit card number is not valid. Please use a different one."
  5. If I press cancel it tells me I must fill in the required fields but there's still nowhere to put in any credit card details. If I fill in the billing address info again and click 'save and continue' I'm returned once more to the 'Complete signing up' section so I click once more on 'I accept, complete my order' and I then seem to be chucked out and have to verify my identity by signing in again.
  6. Once I've signed back in I then get the billing address info (again!) which I fill in and click 'save and continue' again and this time I get a blank page (entitled 'Untitled page' and 'Done' on the status bar - I've clicked Refresh and then it justs adds 'Done but with errors'

My fingers are getting tired of typing my address so many times!

Other Info:

  • I'm in the UK, have registered all my details as being in the UK, have selected a .co.uk domain name
  • I've signed up for OLW and I also have an Outlook Live subscription which I pay for by direct debit
  • I don't have any credit card details stored with my Windows Live ID account.

Why am I not getting any boxes to enter my credit card information? Any suggestions??

Tezbar. EXACTLY the same thing is happening to me and it's driving me CRAZY let me tell you. I've contacted support quite a few days ago and have still had no reply.

This sounds like a job for "All Purpose Remedies:"

  1. Delete your browser history
  2. Delete your temporary internet files and check the box for offline content.
  3. Clean your cookies with an Adaware scan, or lacking that, delete your cookies.
  4. Make sure your browser is set to refresh the page with every visit.

Find all of these things in Tools > Internet Options.  As unlikely as it sounds, these steps often fix things that are stubborn or unresponsive.  Let us know whether or not they worked.

Tezbar, please contact me if you have come up with a solution to this. I spent fifty minutes on the support line but they couldn't help either, and they are yet to contact me back.

I cannot believe I can't get past this stage.

Dave,

Where do you reset your browser to refresh the page with every visit?  I don't see that anywhere.  I always have tabs lined up all over the place.  Resetting will fix that?

Hi Gypssy.  In IE7 it is Tools > Internet Options > General Tab > Browsing History > Settings > "Every time I visit..."

It was fewer steps in IE6 but the path was similar.
