Register a new site

HI,

I presently have a free site.   www.mrjitters.net  I am looking to register and subcribe for a second site from MS Live.  I want this second site to be completly separate from the first one.  How do I do this?   It seems when I try to register the new site, it wants to tie it to the first site and make the first site the primary one.  I read that I have to start a separate account but I do not know how to do this.  Anyone help??   Thanx.

Re: Register a new site

MrJ, you need to sign up for a completely new account AND with a different Windows Live ID:  http://smallbusiness.officelive.com/.

Once you have done this, things can get complicated and confusing.  One thing that will help is to link your Windows Live ID's so that when you want to log into one or the other, you can just pluck it off the login screen.  Check my Prescriptions page for instructions on "Basic Email Management.  Good luck.

 Hi, mrjitters

Skip wrote a blog about domain names -

8 things you should know about domain names

Sorting out fourth-level, primary, and custom domains

You may find it useful to check them out. I hope you find information that helps.

There may be other members here who can give you their first hand experience with this issue. Not being tech, I bow to their experience :)

Re: Register a new site

OK, I am really challenged on this.  LOL.  First I logged out of my old account and tried to sign in as a new account as you suggested.  Then I  get this screen:

 http://login.live.com/login.srf?wa=wsignin1.0&rpsnv=10&ct=1216603931&rver=4.5.2130.0&wp=MBI&wreply=http:%2F%2Fmail.live.com%2Fmail%2Frefresh_auth.aspx&id=64855

So it makes me sign back in again.  I think I am missing something but I don't know what.  Like I said, I am a bit challenged here, sorry.

Did you use the link that I posted above?  (http://smallbusiness.officelive.com/)  Click on "Get started free" and it takes me to a new account sign-up page.

I believe you first need to have an additional live id, you can create one your first account by logging into OL going to settings, emails and creating a new email account, once done, use that email/account to sign up for a new site.

Re: Register a new site

Hi guys, well I figured it out and got things registered.  I now have two sites but nothing seems to be working properly.  I have contacted MS support to see what the problem could be.

At first everything seemed to work OK.  I started editing my new site, www.milsurpforum.com and then logged off for a while.  Now when I attempt to log on using my email and password I just get a white screen and nothing happens.  I can still get onto my old site by using a shortcut button on my web browser.  I know this is probably not a lot of info to work with but if anyone has any ideas, please email me at bnbss@yahoo.com   I would appreciate any ideas as to why this is happening. Thanx in advance.

Re: Register a new site

Good morning MrJ.  This sounds like what has become know here as "the white looping thing."  Basically, it is a partial log-in that never completes.  Does that sound like what your are experiencing?  It happened to me once and this is how I cured it:  Go to tools > Internet Options and delete your history, temporary internet files and cookies.  If there is a box for "offline content," check it.  Now open a fresh browser and try to log in again.  Let us know if it worked.
