Where to get support for Office Live Small Business Applications?

I created a post here 'Errors exporting tables form Access 2007 to MOSS, many issues', which posed questions about issues I've experienced trying to use Office Live Small Business custom applications with Access 2007. The only reply I got was that I was posting in the wrong place. Since then no replies to my other messages in that thread.

If the Office Live Small Business Community...Use and Customize Business Applications is not the place to ask for help with Office Live Small Business custom applications...then were is? Not the MOSS support area, which the moderator pointed me to, since I don't have a local install of sharepoint. I can try but they're going to tell me to come here, I'd imagine, since they may know less about office live issues.

Sorry you're not getting the info you need.  Maybe it would be helpful if you posted the URL of your OLSB website, and explained exactly what it is you are trying to do with respect to the site.

I posited a number of scenarios, all of which have problems. The url for one app where I'm trying to export tables and have intermittant success is

 http://lex123webofficelivecom.officelive.com/lex123test

That's not the real url, but the real url is valid, and does export after the first failure as I noted in the original post.

Another site/app that never allows export of any table is like

 http://san123webofficelivecom.officelive.com/san123test

None of the sites accept a Move to Sharepoint operation. For those I spec the url like, ie expect an application to be created. I don't know what else to do because there is no guidance anywhere that I can find on this subject.

Before you do any of that, did you try deleting the Network Accounts for your user. I would recommend you trying that and not to save any network user/passwords. Go to Control Panel->User Accounts->Manage Your Network Passwords->Delete all (You can back them up if you like).

You should also delete everything in this directory:
C:\Documents and Settings\YOURUSERNAME\Application Data\Microsoft\Credentials

and everything in this directory:
C:\Documents and Settings\YOURUSERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Credentials

Do a clean reboot then try again.

Sharepoint has to be authenticated, so if it's not prompting you for a user/password, it's using the cached user/password information.

 Hi, Trance.

Sorry about the original confusion with MOSS.  Your first post wasn't so specific which is why I thought you MAY have the wrong forum and offered the MOSS link as a possible way of looking for answers.  Being a moderator is not tech support, the true expertise in this help forum is from the valuable, experienced members who selflessly contribute to help other members, such as RxDave and Royster (to name just two).

If you do not get a timely solution here you could try contacting OLSB support.

I hope you get to the root of the problem, soon.  Best wishes.

Re: Where to get support for Office Live Small Business Applications?

Before I take those steps, can you answer a couple of questions for me?

#1 Will it get me into trouble to have more than one OLSB account that I utilize from a single workstation? I'm not sure if that's implied in what your wrote. If the auth system can't keep more than one OLSB account straight, that's a limitation for sure, but at least if I know about it I can deal with it. If clearing the credentials cache is the answer, it'd be pretty lame to have to get used to that, but I at least wouldn't have to spend much more time going around in circles re authentication.

#2 Is anyone here using OLSB in the manner I've described? If so it'd be very intersting to hear what the experience is like, if it's as rocky as mine has been. I know I'm not the only one using OLSB and Access, but are there any other such folk here?

Hi Trance,

1. In my experience with using OLSB, it cannot keep more than one account straight. After learning that, I never save any network users/passwords on my Windows machine.

2. I frequently use Access, Excel and Outlook to connect to OLSB lists and the best way is not to save network users/passwords.

Royster you're a star...thank you for knowing this stuff and letting me know. I will post back to the other thread if I have issues that seem to be unrelated to the authentication issue.
