Re: Shopping carts and meta tags

Hi John :)

I use PayPal's shopping cart on my site. Works fine with OfficeLive and its fairly simple to set up. When you make your "Add to Cart" buttons, the shopping cart is set up automatically. I have the Standard business account, which is free except for a small fee taken out for each sale you make. Other accounts at PayPal with more features have a monthly fee. As far as meta tags, make sure your page titles are descriptive about each page. Keywords for each page should be no more than 20, and make sure the words are in the content of your page. The same goes for Description meta tags. They should contain your keywords if possible and describe what your page is about. Title, keywords and description tie together to help search engines point to you when people type subjects in. Heres a tool to help you check each page as your tags are done. It'll help you tweak the edges until they're just right :).  http://www.seocentro.com/tools/search-engines/metatag-analyzer.html .  Lots of great free tools on that page...a good one to keep! Hope this helps...good luck with your website :).

Re: Shopping carts and meta tags

Sometimes it can take quite awhile, maybe even a month or two....but you never know. It could be sooner :). Just forget about it for a bit. Concentrate on optimizing your pages so they'll be in good shape the next time the search engines swing by. When you submit your site, leave off the www.  It isn't needed with OfficeLive, and search engines see it as a "redirect". Just make it http://yoursite.com/ . And thank you :). I'm not so sure about GREAT, but we've all been in the same shoes. I leave the technical answers to those who know much more, but I try to help with the easy solutions when I can. Patience isn't much of an answer, but its what you need right now, lol. Best wishes :)

Hello John:

For a fresh website it takes anywhere from between 4-6 weeks to get indexed and ranked by the search engines in the meantime you can start creating one way back links to your website by adding a banner ad about your website (440px x 90px) in your signiture in your profile (you can use html code in your signiture)

You should also change the titles on your page to be more descriptive, not just Home.

John-

I really like how when you click on Shop, new tabs open up with your product catagories. How did you do that? I'm setting up my E-Commerce site, too, with MS Office, but it doesn't do that. I hate the way it looks when you open the Shop tab. My link is here, but this opening page is ugly so far!

Hi Tish, not a bad site at all.  I was wondering, how did you get the "shopping cart" above your header?  I have been wanting to do that and haven't figured it out yet.

Thanks for your help!

Oldskool-

Thanks. The "shopping cart" appeared by itself - I didn't do anything to put it there. Sorry to not be more helpful! What is your site, could I view it?

Re: Shopping carts and meta tags
Hi Tish, nice to meet you, thank you for commenting on my page, i use to live in New Jersey, Bound brook, i loved it. Anyway I looked at your sit and i think you should center the products to the middle of the page, now when you create a new page you have the option to sister the new page with any of the Tabs, you can make as many page tabs as you want and just sister it with that Tab, also when your make a new page it gives you the option to show the new tab, page in the top navigation bar,  if you want that page not to show, in the new page editor you can click on don't show in navigation bar, it will still create the page and you can link it to whatever page you want, you will just have to edit it in page manager. On your sale page , it think you also need more content and information. I will be happy to put a link on my site for you.

Hope you Have a good day.
