Data Protection Issues

I am looking to add a mailing list to an existing website and will therefore be storing customers names and addresses on the web server.  My business is located within the UK and so is governed by the UK Data Protection laws and I need to know whether the data I am collecting is transmitted outside the UK.  Can anyone let me know the location of the server on which my data is stored?

Re: Data Protection Issues

Hi Tim,

I am also in the UK and have a similar concern.

The dumbed down version of the legislation (rather helpfully) asks: "Am I satisfied the information is being held securely, whether it's on paper or on computer? And what about my website? Is it secure?"

I can confidently say I have absolutely no idea.

Did you manage to resolve the issue?

Ta

Re: Data Protection Issues

Hi, I have recently found that there is a Microsoft person over in the "Sell Products and Services Online" forum. He seems to be very knowledgeable about the services and setup that Microsoft provides. I would suggest posting your question over there so that he will see it....
