Re: HELP!! CAN NOT LOGIN IN...IS SYSTEM DOWN???

ARGH is right!  I've disabled my main site to bring in my newly designed site pages, and it works, and then it doesn't.  If they need a better server, since it's free, I'm sure everyone with a free site would gladly donate $1 to $10 to help them get a new server.  This is getting very tiresome and tedious.

Maybe we could get everyone with a site, at the same time on the same day, bombard them with e-mails?

It has to be something on my laptop, it works fine on my other computer.  What, I have no idea because it worked fine on my laptop until today.  I've tried changing various settings and turning things on and off in my Internet security to no avail, made no difference.  Right now, I give up.

Re: HELP!! CAN NOT LOGIN IN...IS SYSTEM DOWN???

I had to restart my computer because it got to where I couldn't save pages, then I got this message in another window about five times:

We're sorry, Microsoft Office Live has encountered an unexpected problem in processing your request.

Please try one of the following:

•Please check the Address bar to ensure that you have entered the correct URL.

•Use your browser's Back button to try another link.

•Go to Microsoft Office Live Home and work on another task if the service you are requesting is temporarily not available.

•If you continue to encounter this problem or want assistance, please contact us.

So I e-mailed them. I couldn't even e-mail them without restarting my computer.

Re: HELP!! CAN NOT LOGIN IN...IS SYSTEM DOWN???

Instead of bombarding anybody with emails, I wonder if it would be helpful to start looking for patterns.  I am using XP/SP3 and IE7 and my firewall is Kaspersky.  Except for a brief issue with Windows Live ID's on Saturday, I have had no problem with either the site or the site designer.  Email also continues to be fully functional.

That said, if your site is not functioning, all is not lost.  Step away from it for a short time and use the opportunity to vote.  No excuses.  This could be the most important election of our lifetimes, and certainly more important than anything we're doing here.

I have Windows Vista Home Edition, automatic Windows Updates, and IE7.  And I agree about the election.  That is definitely the most important thing at the moment.

Re: HELP!! CAN NOT LOGIN IN...IS SYSTEM DOWN???

We seem to be having different problems.  part of the pattern for me is that the weird tabs and windows opening only happens with OLSB.  I can sign in to windows live in general and it doesn't happen, it signs in and out normally using the exact same id's.  Doesn't happen anywhere else.  Sigh.

I'll be out voting tomorrow regardless.

I'd suggest if you have an access problem, try using Firefox. It seems to be an IE issue-although I've no idea why would that would be.

Re: HELP!! CAN NOT LOGIN IN...IS SYSTEM DOWN???

I figured out my problem with my laptop.  I removed all the OL sites, my sites from trusted sites in IE (I forgot I had added them).  That solved the problem and all is working perfectly now.  Seemed to be a problem with turning protected mode on and off, not sure if that is an IE thing or my Internet security software (new laptop, new to using Vista and new to the software, too many things to figure out at once), either way I am relieved.  Maybe this will help someone else.

I recently upgrade my main computer to Vista and was having those problems as well, kept opening new tabs, windows, continue messages.  I reinstalled IE which fixed the opening windows and tabs problem but not the continues looping problem.  Just to confirm with sjr that removing the officelive.com from the trusted list fixed the looping problem as well.  I can now log in with no problem!

See my "workaround" at the bottom of this thread.  It works for me.  Hopefully, it will for you:

Re: HELP!! CAN NOT LOGIN IN...IS SYSTEM DOWN???

Folks. I too had the login problem. However, I think I might have accidentally discovered a workaround.

After getting the login error, I go to address bar and type officelive.com and hit enter. It logs me in straight to officelive.

Maybe the connection from Live.com login to officelive.com is broken? Anyway this worked for me. I had just installed the desktop live mail application and was wondering if that was due to that. I'm glad I came here, as I found that lot of others a having the same problem.
