Ready to go public!!??

I've spent quite a bit of time on my website in the past two months and learned more about html than I ever thought I'd need to. I didn't get everything on my site exactly the way I wanted it, but I think I've done a decent job. Before I offically open for business, I'd like to get some feedback from a few of you. Any comments or suggestions would be helpful. Click on my logo below to get to my site.

Thank you in advance.

Marcy,

Love the site...Just a few things I am feeling off about-You're choice to keep or change:

  1. On your home page the beautiful boat pic in the middle throws me off-you ask those questions above it but I have to scroll to the answers, kind puts me off but again your choice.
  2. On the Order and Quote pages--The scrolling on the iFrame is weird, maybe try changing that a little-resize or such of the iFrame and disable scrolling--just seems odd.
  3. On the Promotion tab-The sidescrolling throws me off but probably OK since I would just print the coupon anyway.

Anyway just trying to help.

Also if you can let me know how you did the services page....I am trying to get my FAQs to expand like that.....Thanks

Re: Ready to go public!!??

Thanks for the input, I wasn't too sure about the scroll bars either, so I'll probably change that tomorrow. I've been working on some more tweaks that I think will work well.

For the services page I just used the sourse code from a page that I found and then editied it for my information. That was probably the best tip that I found during my html crash course.  I'm not even going to try to pretend that I know what half of the other stuff means. (JavaScript, CSS, XLST - I have no clue) There is an good example of an expandable list at http://www.widomaker.com/~reboughner/W3C/lists/list1.htm. Just select "source" from the "View" menu and then edit that. I also found a really good HTML editor (and free) at http://www.htmlkit.com/ in case you don't have one.

I think that it looks very professional. I agree with Ghoster about the boat picture though, it doesn't quite fit into the theme of the page. Also, on the refer-a-friend page you might want to actually tell the people what the discount is. Did you use store manager for the order form page?

Re: Ready to go public!!??

I used the OLXT form generator for my order form and my quote form. ( http://olxt.com/formgenerator.aspx ) had to do a lot of editing to get the layout the way I wanted it, but the form generator is the only way I could find to custimize a form that way. I tried to use the form designer, but it puts everything in one long column and that just wouldn't work for what I needed.

I used the color picture on my home page, because I wanted to let customers know that I don't just deal with old or black & white pictures. I do a lot of color pictures too. In fact the DVD slideshows that I have done were mostly color pictures from vacations and such. I suppose it isn't crutial to have it on my home page, but I thought that since that's the first thing customers will see, I should include a color picture of some kind. Perhaps I could use one of the other pictures that I have in my gallery there.

It's actually my logo image which I created using Word Art. I just inserted the image and added a hyperlink to my home page

 <a href="http:// your website.com"><img src="your image here" width="???" height="??"/></a>
