Website hits and visitors

Hy guys,

i just have a simple question,

What is a good average of visitors hits for a good website.

i'm getting about 500/week or 2500/month  but will like to get more hits.

I've been with office live for about 4-5 months and i'm not sure if these numbers are good or bad,  and with office live not being the greatest Search engine friendly website, i not really sure.

Thanks Guys!

Hello Isaac:

What I have found to be the most important thing is the conversion rate of visitors to customers. It really doesn't much matter how many hits you get a week if no one is purchasing anything. as far as being search engine friendly I haven't found any other system that preforms as good as office live small business as far as being indexed and having high rankings as with office live. A good way to tell how sucessful a website is is just bu looking at its Google/Alexa Page Rank.

Re: Website hits and visitors

i do not sell anything on my website as it is a non-profit news site. does this means that my page rank it's never going to go up.

Ever since i started my google page rank has been the same (0) and i'm not sure how to raise it up.

i mean if i have to sell something in other to get ranked, i guess my rank is allawys going to be the same.

Do site visits increase your page rank?

what else besides selling increases your page rank.

Also i noticed that my site it's being indexed in google and other search engines but my keywords seem not to be very effective, since i allways have to use " larokita " as a wild card in order to get results./

in other ways if i search for noticias(news) i do not get any results pertaining my site. but if i search noticias larokita i get a few hits. or with some other keyword but allays have to use the wildcard "larokita" which is part of my domain name.

Re: Website hits and visitors

Hello Isaac:

Your website is still considered a new website and you should be getting Google Page Rank soon, your alexa page rank is good though (this is a reflection of your traffic). Even though your site is more of a public service website I still would consider monetizing it with adsense for content (this would enhance the content of your pages plus give your visitors other options related to the content of your site) I would also thing about adding Adsense for Search too (Google Search Bar). The simplest thing I can tell you to do to increase traffic is to optimize your webpages for the search engines, your current results are listed below:

Meta tags analysis.
Title: Title relevancy to page content is terrible.
The Title relevancy to page content is 0%.

Description: Found no description meta tag.
The description meta tag is used by most of the search engines. Consider to add a description meta tag.
Keywords: This tag contains too many characters.
This tag contains 807 characters. This is too many for what we would consider a 'robot friendly' web page. The maximum number of characters we recommend for this tag is 500.

This tag contains too many keywords.
This tag contains 46 keywords. This is too many for what we would consider a 'robot friendly' web page. The maximum number of keywords we recommend for this tag is 20.

The keywords tag contain stop words.
The keyword(s) 'en, de, com' are stop words and ignored by the most search engines.
Keyword relevancy to page content is very poor.
The keywords relevancy to page content is 30%.

Here is the free tool that I use to do this with Web Page Analyzer there are many simple/free way to improve your rankings one thing the title of your home page make it more descriptive in explaining what your site is about, many search engines see a title of "Home" as a place holder and is ignored. All my results for both my websites are 100% organic I do not use any pay submits or pay-per-clicks. If there is any aspect of what I have covered that you do not understand please ask and I will be more that happy to explain more in detail.

Hello Isaac:

I am currently looking at your source code and see some errors in the way you have entered your meta tags (Syntax Errors) this would have a effect on how the search engines index and rank your website give me a few mins. I need to ask you are you using the WYSIWYG online editor for office live or are you using a third party html editor?

I see alot of "funny" code up in your title, keywords, description area?  I'm not sure why but that should be cleaned up!

Hello acorns:

One of the most important things i have noticed with new websites is to keep the costs down by just having good rich text revelent title, keywords, and description for your webpages. myself I find these pay-per-click programs a waste of money, i keep seeing the same posts from many of these people " I am getting hits but no one is buying" What is the purpose of paying for traffic if sales do not increase. what is the address of your website acorns and I will be happy to take a look and give you some free advice.

Re: Website hits and visitors

Well, for starters you should have a more descriptive title than Home, plus you should add appropriate keywords and a decriptive but short description.

I have changed the name on the home page, is this better, or could I do something else?

Re: Website hits and visitors

By "page title,' StudioAllen is referring to the title which will appear in the top bar of your browser.  This page is titled "Microsoft Office Live Small Business Community."  Your home page title is "Home" which is the default.  You should change it to something more descriptive since this will appear as the first line link in search engine citations.  To change it, open the Page Editor for each page and click on "Properties."
