Email Unavailable
For the last five or six weeks I've been getting the following message pretty much every day when in Office Live...

...Your e-mail is temporarily unavailable. We apologize for the inconvenience, please check back at a later time...

Anyone have any idea when this temporary problem is going to be sorted out???

Ditto. Pretty pathetic, compared to Yahoo Mail or Gmail (also gratis)

What do we expect? It's probably running on MS Windows servers.

I've been getting that same message for the last two days too. From OLSmallBusiness Home, try clicking on "Email" in the left navigation...then on 'Inbox". You might be able to view your mail there for now. Hope this helps...

Also you get the same message if you go www.hotmail.com and check your mail there directly?

I've been getting that most of the time the past few days too.  It's only in the Home Center, where it will display your inbox and instead I get the 'temporarily unavailbe message'.  My mail is functioning fine if I go to it another way.  It seems to be a difficulty in displaying the inbox in the Home Center, not an actual problem with the email service itself (at least for me).

Thanks for the clarification.

I checked with the team and they were aware of issues with the gadget that displays email in the Office Live Small Business main page; they are coming back to me with details.

I take it this is still happening today; correct?

Filberto.. It doesn't normally happen if I go direct to Hotmail, as with sjr, it's only a problem in Office Live Home.

Yes, but it seems to be intermittant.. it's been available one minute and not the next.

Mine has been working better today, it loads more often than not.  It would be handy to have a separate link on the Home Center to the inbox.  The one there is part of the part that doesn't display when it is unavailable.  If there was a separate link then you could get there in 1 click, a touch faster then clicking on the email link in the menu to go to that page and then clicking on inbox.  Whine, I am sooo neglected and abused, I have to move my mouse over entire inches and lift my finger twice to click while waiting a few moments to get to my free email on my free website, whine ; - )

Seriously, it has been working better today.

I too would like to have a link from the OL home page.  My WLID is different from my email accounts, so they won't show in the OL pane anyway.  It would be nice to have a link which will take you to your linked WLID's sign-in page so that you can pick the account you wish to open.  As it is, if I don't close the browser first, mail.live.com senses my OL account sign-in ID and tries to make me sign up for a new mail account.

Dave and Sue,

Would bookmarking your email accounts work for you? One way you can very quickly move between accounts, basically one click if you put a button on your bookmark/favourites bar, is to book mark the link to the Hotmail account you want (one of your linked accounts). To do that, go to Hotmail and click on the arrow to where you can select one of your linked email accounts. When you get the link, just right click on the account you want and then select add to favourites. So next time when you want to check your email, just click on the bookmark for it and boom, you are in the linked account in one click.
