Product categories navigation

Is there a way to include my product categories in my navigation bars?  It would be nice if a customer could jump to any category from any category without having to go back to the Product List every time.

John, if you posted the URL of your site, it would be easier to answer your question.  When you move to different categories, does the URL in the address line change?  If so, that would be the key; try creating links with those URL's on a test page and see what happens.  Can you add your own links to the store pages?

Re: Product categories navigation

Thank you so much for your response.  Here is my URL:  www.decoletters.com

Each category does have its own URL.  I tried to create a page for one of the categories so that it would be visible in the navigation bar, but it would not allow me to use the category's URL because it has "special characters".  (_ and /)

Because I cannot (that I know of) add text to the Product List, I cannot create a hyperlink in the store pages.  Perhaps if I edited the Product List and Product Details pages to include another "zone" I could create links in that zone....  ?

Any input on my other question posted here about the "Continue Shopping" button at the bottom of the Shopping Cart directing customers back to a seemingly random Product Detail page??

Ok...  It looks like I was able to add the categories to my Product Detail pages by creating another zone and adding the hyperlinks there (I just copied them from the Product List page and they all seem to work).

John,

This request/question has come up a few times in the forums. Currently you cannot add links in the navigation bar to point to specific product categories. The navigation bar currently enables you to create links that point directly to pages within your web hosting account. Since the product category pages are dynamically generated by data in our database, we do not have hard coded pages for each one of them that appear in your list of pages. At this point in time the only option I can see is to create a list of custom links in your header/footer that point to categories, but I'm not sure if this would be the most intuitive navigation structure for your customers.

Re: Product categories navigation

You posted in part...."The navigation bar currently enables you to create links that point directly to pages within your web hosting account."

So basically we can not add a "link" to another website within our navigation bar? Is that what you are saying?

I have been going crazy trying to figure out how to use this thumbnail program that I just pruchased BEFORE I found out the OLSB does not have a FTP function. I have hundreds of pics and really like the program but it looks as if I may have to get a refund.

The other option I thought of is to create a "hyperlink" to my other website that I have with the page of thumbnails. I moved (re-delegated) this particular domain name because I do like the ease of OLSB but it seems very limited for what I need it to do. But now I am under the impression from previous posts that it is not possible to even link to my other website (within the navigation bars) because it is not hosted by OLSB. So the other option I see is to switch back or hopefully find a way to make it work with OLSB.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
