Help, Need to import 900 names for e-mail campaign!

I've got the 900 names imported into contact manager.  Is there a way to add them now to a group without having to access eash record individually.  There's got to be a way to add in mass.  Please help!

Do you have the 900 contacts on an excel spreadsheet? If you do, then you can follow this:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/officelive/FX102378241033.aspx?ofcresset=1

Make sure that when you're at the part where you can customize the view on office live for the import, you select Contact Group column as well. Then in your spreadsheet, create that column as well (make sure they line up with the Office Live columns for your view), and put in the group name for the 900 contacts (copy and paste, or use the fill command in excel). Follow the instructions to do the copy and paste in the link above.

Royster,

the instructions work fine if the contact is associated to only 1 Contact Group however when you try to do more than 1 contact group for them, it fails. How do you get around this? If this is something that cannot be done, I won't be able to use the service because of the amount of time it will take to manually update each of them.

 Thanks.

Hi Geo,

I just exported my contacts to a spreadsheet and the contact group column looks something like this: Lead or Prospect;#Customer;#Vendor

Now, if you add ";#" to the beginning and end of the cell for the contact group column you'll be able to paste back into Contact Manager without any errors.  So, the above cell would now look like this: ;#Lead or Prospect;#Customer;#Vendor;#

This seemed to work for me.  Let me know if this is what you were looking for.

Hi Geo,

Can you let us know where it fails and what the message was? You should be able to use different Contact Group names for each of your contact entry in your spreadsheet.

Follow Iva's instructions and let us know how that works for you.
