Integration w/Data for Outlook Contacts.

Can someone explain how the data between Outlook, Hotmail, Contact Manager is integrated? I can't seem to sync the data and have too many duplicates, or missing contacts. It seems it too much to ask for 1 repository for contacts, but with Outlook Connector, "Import Contacts" in Hotmail...
